The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all central universities and centrally funded institutions to implement the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) from the academic session 2025–26, in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
What Changes
- UG programmes extended from 3 to 4 years
- Multiple entry and exit points with Academic Bank of Credits
- Research track available in Year 4 for eligible students
- State universities given flexibility to adopt by 2026
Impact on Students
Students enrolled from 2025 will follow the new structure. Those already enrolled in 3-year programmes will complete under the old curriculum.
